RS485 wiring precautions

485 communication lines must use shielded twisted-pair; all 485 equipment on the lines must be connected to same GND ground.

The theoretical length of 485 communication line should not exceed 1000 meters. According to actual experience and on-site environment, it is recommended that the total length should not exceed 500 meters, 485repeater should be added if it exceeds 500 meters.

The theoretical maximum of devices on the 485 bus should not exceed 64; If it exceeds, a 485 repeater should be added.

The 485 bus must be a hand-in-hand bus structure, and resolutely avoid the way of star and bifurcation connection.

The 485 wiring should be as far away from interference sources as possible such as high-voltage power supply / electric mains / high-radio frequency signal cables, and not to be bundled together; if it is necessary to run with these cables in parallel, please add EMT conduit tube.
